Are there other costs?

  • There is a one-time registration fee of $20 for all new students.

  • Books are not included in the lesson prices and tend to be approximately $20 each at the beginner level. RCM books cost more at higher grade levels. Most of the books used by our teachers will be available for purchase at our school.

How are classes scheduled?

  • Classes are usually scheduled once a week on the same day and time, unless there are holidays, cancellations, or reschedulings.

  • At time of registration, we will check which days and times you are available during our school's hours, and then match you with a teacher that is available around the same time.

  • Please note that you may not get your preferred availability since all of our teachers have existing students on their schedules; providing multiple options for your availability will help the admin team with scheduling classes quicker!

  • Our school has a 24-hour cancellation policy. Please notify us during at least one business day before your class if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late-notice absences from classes will not be rescheduled or credited.

  • If your original day and time no longer works for you in the long term, the admin team will check if the same teacher has other lesson times available. If not, we will do our best to match you with another teacher.

Other Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you have free trials?
No. We have "meet-and-greets"; they are 15min meetings you can schedule in-person or online before registering. This allows you to directly ask a teacher any questions you may have about lessons. Meet-and-greets are especially helpful for younger children, and also students with prior musical experience so the teacher can gauge their current skill level.

  • Do you only teach children?
No. Our music classes are also available for adult students at all skill levels.

  • Is there a minimum age?
We recommend that piano students start at around 4 years old minimum since they may have difficulty focusing with private classes, and knowing how to read the alphabet helps with learning how to music as well. We recommend starting classes for other instruments at an older age, or learning piano first.

  • What is "RCM"?
RCM is the abbreviation for the Royal Conservatory of Music, a music education institute prominent in North America.

  • Are music examinations mandatory?
Whether students take RCM exams is up to them! If you want RCM certificates for high school credits or other reasons, discuss them in advance with your teacher so they can help you prepare for the requirements.

  • Do you rent instruments?
We have a limited number of piano keyboards and flutes available. Please email us at [email protected] for more information about rentals. Music stores may also have rental options for a wider variety of instruments.
